Game Reserve – Waterberg – Limpopo Province

Responsibilities :

Reserve management:

Conservation of animals and plants, ecology, animal population dynamics, supplement
feeding program of large herbivores, predator-prey dynamics (lion reserve), security/anti-poaching program,
education, aerial game census, game capture, animal well-being, eradication of alien plants, bush encroachment
program, controlled burning, firebreaks, sustainable use of water resources, responsible for liaison with Government
Department of Environmental Affairs, liaison with other stake holders (garden services, contractors and
neighbouring reserves).

Reserve maintenance:

Perimeter fence, road network, water reticulation and waste management.

Personnel management: staff, employment of staff, leave roster, designation of duties, duty rosters, work
performance evaluation, disciplinary action, incentives, training, staff well-being, liaison with all staff living on the
Reserve. Administration: staff management, compilation and management of annual reserve budget, weekly and monthly
progress reports, staff attendance register, fleet management, acquirement of operating equipment, debtors and
creditors.

Self-motivated Manager

Able to work independently and to be honest by nature.

At least 5 years of proven success working in the relevant field and experience on all MS Office programs is required, with
preference given to applicants with experience on Arcview.

The minimum qualification is a 4-year Nature Conservation Diploma
with preference to B.Sc applicants.

Salary highly negotiable – market related –  the package includes accommodation, work vehicle, 13% company funded
provident fund and 50% company funded medical aid.

An Instructor at any of our Training Camps will be responsible for the general management and running of the camps.

This includes the planning and management of maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment.

Instructors are also responsible for all firearms and ammunition and they are to make sure all firearms are safe, well maintained and in a good working order.

Instructors are also to liaise with Reserve Management on concession matters.

Each camp has a cook, cleaner and Camp Coordinators.

Cooks and Cleaners report to Camp Coordinators who in turn report to the Head Instructor, and if there is no Head Instructor present,

they report to the Assistant Instructor.

There are also students in camp on work experience placement or on volunteer basis.

Instructors are responsible to make sure these students are mentored and their development programs are followed

Training :

The most important part of an Instructor position is to provide an inspirational and immersive learning experience to all course participants,

in order for them to reconnect to nature.

Instructors need to plan and facilitate the daily activities.

They also need to make sure the correct academic requirements are met with regards to lectures, lecture content, tests, assessments

and the required administration processes are correctly followed and completed.

Salary R20 000 to 24 000/month CTC

  1. Overseeing Safari / Guiding Department (Team of 6 Field Guides & 6 Trackers)
  2. Daily Game Drives
  3. Guided Bush Walks
  4. Hosting Duties
  5. Guest Activity and Airport Transfers
  6. Assisting around the lodge in day to day operations
  7. Weekly Vehicle maintenance / Inspections
  8. Site Inspections
  9. Month end reports
